On the 10,000 m² currently occupied by the Galin relay park, a new balance is taking shape. Half of the site will host a 600-space multi-storey car park, with construction set to start in 2027. The other half will be entirely dedicated to nature: a green space of about 4,000 m², comparable in size to the Gambetta Square.
Galin Park Bordeaux: the future green lung of the right bank
This project, which has been a source of tension for a long time, marks a turning point. When, in 2022, only the multi-storey parking was being considered, local residents denounced it as « an ecological aberration », calling for a true tree-filled park in its place. Two years later, their...Your voice seems to have been heard. The Galin Garden, a temporary name, is now part of the city's urban ambitions.
On Thursday, April 17, around a hundred residents attended a public meeting dedicated to this future green lung. The agenda included initial sketches, landscape orientations, and the promise of a space that is open, shaded, and designed for families and biodiversity.
Along the banks of the Garonne, this park aims to reconcile urban planning and ecology, while providing a concrete response to the need for public spaces on the right bank. If the schedule is followed, Bordeaux residents will be able to enjoy it starting in 2028, in the heart of a transforming neighborhood.
