During the wishes à la presse event for Bordeaux Métropole, Christine Bost, the president, confirmed the desire to strengthen the tram network with the addition of lines E and F. By 2025, Bordeaux is committed to expanding its tram network with two new lines that will significantly improve mobility in the heart of the metropolis. These new connections will rely on a clever reconfiguration of the existing network, eliminating the need to lay new tracks. Switch work is scheduled for the summer of 2025 at the Porte de Bourgogne.

"Here, we are seeking the robustness of the network to avoid traffic disruptions due to the obsolescence of the existing intersection. In case of problems, the trams will be able to make the necessary movements to reach the Achard or Jallère depots, without blocking the entire network." specifies the communiqué from Bordeaux Métropole.

6 future tram lines clearly identified in Bordeaux by 2025

The line F will offer a direct connection between Gare Saint-Jean and Mérignac airport, with no transfers, making it easier to travel between the city center and the airport. At Porte de Bourgogne, the trains will change direction to follow the route to Mérignac.

On its side, the E line will connect Floirac Dravemont to the Blanquefort station using the same switching method, enhancing connections in the surrounding neighborhoods. The goal? To improve the frequency between the Cenon station and Pellegrin on the A line, which is currently the most used and to avoid transfers for nearly 10% of passengers.

These improvements aim to streamline traffic, respond to the growing mobility needs, and make the Bordeaux tramway network more robust and accessible for everyone.
