4 New Pedestrian Areas in Bordeaux
The pedestrian zone in Bordeaux is expanding! After extending the bounded area in the Pey-Berland and Saint-Eloi neighborhoods (including the Place des Droits-de-l'Homme, Cours d'Alsace-et-Lorraine, and Rue Sainte-Colombe), it's now time for the Bouffard and Mably streets in the Gambetta and Grands-Hommes district.
These 2 new areas are now accessible regulated starting today, Monday, September 2. Meanwhile, their little sisters have been regulated since July 1. In practice, the access to streets like La Boétie, Bouffard, Montbazon, Toulouse Lautrec, Diderot, Mautrec, and even the Place du Chapelet - just to name a few - is now regulated by removable bollards.

What's the goal? To promote gentle mobility, provide the people of Bordeaux with safe and less polluted spaces, and to reserve access for residents and local professionals who obtain a priority access card (only they can move around freely if they have a garage or a parking space). In this spirit, the city of Bordeaux aims for 250 hectares of pedestrian area in the city center by 2026.
