Exciting news for Bordeaux: more pedestrian neighborhoods!

Since 2020, the pedestrian area in Bordeaux has been expanding. This year, the initiative continues with the introduction of new bollards in 4 sectors of the city center. With the goal of reaching 250 hectares of pedestrian space by 2026, the City of Bordeaux is gradually expanding its pedestrian and soft mobility areas. Starting today, the Saint-Eloi and Pey-Berland sectors are joining the list.

Towards a Less Polluted and Greener City

Objectives of this initiative gaining ground? To promote and secure soft mobilities, to offer all pedestrians safe and less polluted spaces (the city has seen a 28% decrease in pollution since 2020), and to restrict access of motorized vehicles to residents and professionals. Only holders of an access card to the restricted zone (residents, locals, emergency vehicles or vehicles with urgent need) will be allowed access.

Two new pedestrian areas will be in effect on September 2, 2024 at 12pm: Mably and Bouffard-Montbazon-Nancel Penard.
