A quick connection between six communities

Approved during the metropolitan council on July 11, 2025, the future express line will connect the areas of Pellegrin, Thouars and Gradignan Malartic, crossing six municipalities in the metropolis: Bordeaux, Talence, Gradignan, Pessac, Bègles and Villenave-d’Ornon.

Covering a route of 11.5 kilometers, it will include 23 stations, with over 7 kilometers on dedicated tracks, ensuring quick and regular trips. It will serve key areas like job hubs, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions, including the university hospital, the university campus, and several densely populated residential neighborhoods.

Goals: 24,000 users per day and fewer cars

Designed as an effective alternative to individual cars, this new line aims to attract 24,000 daily users and reduce car usage.

A project with ecological and urban ambitions

With a budget of 114 million euros, this bus rapid transit line will be part of a large urban development project: greening, bike paths, walking pathways, and a park-and-ride facility with 150 spaces near the Château de Thouars station.

Environmentally, the line is designed to be carbon neutral between 2033 and 2037, with the potential to offset 76,726 tons of CO₂ over 50 years. The socio-economic analysis is also very positive, with a net present value (NPV) of 314 million euros, meaning 1.71 euros generated for every euro invested.

Line G in 2024 (Saint-Aubin–Bordeaux Gare Saint-Jean) and Line H expected by the end of 2025 (a 21 km loop between the two banks), this new Pellegrin–Thouars–Malartic line continues to expand a transportation network that’s smoother, more eco-friendly, and better suited to everyday needs.

The operational studies will begin in 2025, and an extension to the Bègles station and Bordeaux Mériadeck is already being planned. By the end of 2027, Bordeaux will have a new green artery for its mobility.
