Biking is gaining popularity in Bordeaux. Studies show that there are about 100,000 cyclists exploring the Pearl of Aquitaine every day. Bordeaux is now the 2nd most bike-friendly city in France. In this fast-paced momentum, Bordeaux Métropole has approved new cycling projects for safe and suitable infrastructure during their latest council meeting.
ReVE Bordeaux: 14 routes and 257 kilometers of cycling paths
The development of the Express Bike Network (ReVE) is a major focus of the 3rd Cycling Plan 2021-2024, approved in November 2021 as part of the Urban Mobility Plan.
Mobilities. Bordeaux Metropole is considering the development of a section of route N°11, between Place Mondésir in Mérignac and Rue Georges Bonnac in Bordeaux via Avenue d'Arès, Avenue de la République, Rue Judaïque, and Rue Brizard until the intersection with Rue Bonnac. A little further along, still on route N°11 of the Express Bike Network (ReVE), the metropolis plans the development of a section between the Marchegay roundabout in Mérignac and the town center of Martignas-sur-Jalle via Avenue du Colonel Pierre Bourgoin and Avenue du 18 juin 1940. In 2024, an additional 25 kilometers will be delivered. Eventually, the ReVE network will have 275 kilometers and 14 routes.
