Until the very end, he demonstrated a resilience and moral strength that were praised by his loved ones and colleagues. « He is an example for us all », highlighted Christine Bost, who succeeded him at the head of the Métropole. « His broad perspective and humanity guided many who were lucky enough to walk alongside him. »

Farewell to a deeply committed man
In the heartfelt tributes that are pouring in, the image of a profoundly human man shines through. In Mérignac, where he served as mayor for over 15 years, the emotion is palpable. “He loved being their mayor so much,” shares Christine Bost, recalling the strong bond he formed with the residents.
The Metropolis and its elected officials are today honoring an inspiring figure, a “companion of political struggle” and a “caring president” who has left a mark on a generation of elected officials and citizens with his steadfast dedication to values of justice, dialogue, and commitment. His funeral is expected to bring together many elected officials and citizens in the coming days who wish to pay their last respects.
