A Greener Mobility on the Horizon for 2026
And there will be one more park-and-ride facility for Bordeaux drivers by May 2026! This new parking garage is part of a broader strategy led by the Metropolis: reducing car use in the city center while making intermodal travel easier.
Directly connected to the G line of the express bus – set to launch in 2024 between Bordeaux Saint-Jean and Saint-Aubin-de-Médoc – the Parc-Relais Mermoz aims to become a key transfer hub for the local community. Just a short walk from the Mermoz stop, it will also provide handy links with line 71.
.
An exemplary facility from an ecological perspective
In terms of numbers, the Parc-Relais will offer 366 parking spaces, which include: 10 reserved for people with reduced mobility, 10 dedicated to carpooling and 20 equipped with electric charging stations.
Designed with five levels and no basement, the building will combine wood and concrete in an eco-friendly design. The goal? To achieve a carbon-neutral balance by the 8th year. The photovoltaic roof will generate renewable energy on-site, enhancing the site's independence. This project is part of a larger initiative: revitalizing the old greenhouses of the City of Bordeaux, aimed at hosting urban agriculture initiatives. The total cost of the project is estimated at 11 million euros.
