After several years away, the Bordeaux Marathon is officially preparing its comeback. The organizers have announced that registration will open starting Tuesday, May 26, 2026 for a new edition set for November 8. And this revival comes with a major change: the giant Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), organizer of the Tour de France, is now taking the reins of the event alongside the Stade Bordelais Athlétisme.
ASO arrives in Bordeaux and takes it to the next level
This is one of the big news for the 2026 edition. ASO, a heavyweight in the global sporting event scene, is officially becoming the organizer of the Bordeaux Marathon. Already behind major events like the Tour de France, Marseille-Cassis, and the Beaujolais Marathon, the group aims to make the Bordeaux event a must-attend race.

10, 21, or 42 km through the streets of Bordeaux
This new edition will feature three formats certified by the French Athletics Federation: a marathon, a half-marathon, and a 10-kilometer run.
The organizers promise routes that are "particularly smooth," designed for both amateur runners and performance enthusiasts. Registration will be via the Timeeo platform, which replaces Pro Timing.
The Grand Return of the Bordeaux Marathon
Missing from the calendar since 2019, the Bordeaux Marathon is ready to reclaim its spot among the major running events in France.
The Bordeaux Athletics Stadium, still the supporting club for the event, speaks of a "renewed, ambitious, and unifying" edition, aiming to make the weekend of November 8 a grand popular running celebration in the heart of Bordeaux.
