A Journey Filled with Challenges Resumed
The South-West LGV is entering its operational phase. Calls for tenders are to be launched by the end of 2026, following the validation of the financial setup expected in the coming weeks. A 220 km Line Between Bordeaux and Toulouse
The project plans for the construction of 220 kilometers of new line between Bordeaux and Toulouse, integrating...
cute; for the future New Line of the Southwest (LNSO). In the long run, this high-speed train line aims to significantly reduce travel time between the two cities, decongest existing lines for daily trains, and strengthen connections to Dax and then Spain.Several new stations are planned, particularly around Agen, Montauban, and potentially Mont-de-Marsan (on the branch towards Dax). The level of service (direct TGVs or intermediate stops) is still to be decided, which is a key point for the concerned regions.
A major challenge for the Southwest at 14 billion euros
The total cost is estimated at 14 billion euros, with a 40% contribution from the State, 40% from local authorities.cute; locations and 20% for the European Union. An initial envelope of 500 million euros is unlocked immediately to kick off the procedures and secure the timeline.
After nearly 40 years of discussions, the project is finally entering a concrete phase. Now, it's time to turn the political commitment into visible construction... and then into a service line.
