This Thursday, the French ice hockey team is making its debut at the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games. Among the Blues, there's a familiar face for the people of Bordeaux: Jules Boscq, defender for the Bordeaux Boxers, who has been called to play a central role in a tricolor selection returning to the Olympics after 24 years away.

Bordeaux Rinks on the International Stage

Born in Bordeaux, Jules Boscq discovered hockey at the age of 3, thanks to his brother and cousin. He grew up between the Public Garden and Nansouty, before taking his first steps in the colors of the Bordeaux Boxers. At 13, he joined Hormadi d'Anglet, where he took a big step into the professional world. After a return to his training club, the Bordeaux native ventured into North America in the ECHL with the Iowa Heartlanders. Two formative seasons that honed his game and maturity. In June 2025, he then signed in Finland, in one of the most renowned leagues for defenders, before returning to Bordeaux at the end of the season to regain playing time and a team he knows perfectly.

ل» I know the city, the club, and the coach. I’ve come back to win titles », he shares with Essentiel Bordeaux. Buoyed by the enthusiasm of the Bordeaux crowd and sold-out matches, Boscq quickly rediscovers his good vibes, just a few weeks before the Olympic meeting.

A first Olympic experience full of ambitions

In Milan-Cortina, France may not be the favorite, but Jules Boscq embraces the role of the underdog. "We can achieve something great. We have to give it our all so we have no regrets," he states. An international senior since the age of 17, the player from Bordeaux is now seen as one of the players expected to become leaders of the team in a time of generational transition.
