Tea Room and Animal Shelter for Abused Rabbits
On Tuesday, February 11th, Usagi Coffee, the very first adoptable rabbit café in France, opens its doors on Rue Achard in Bordeaux, near Vivres de l'Art. Dreamed up by Chrystale and Killian, this tea room serves as a shelter for rabbits while they search for their forever families.
What’s on the agenda? Delicious homemade pastries and drinks, to be enjoyed in the company of adorable and well-loved furry friends. Among the sweet treats: don’t miss, among others, the carrot cake (of course), chocolate cake, cheesecake, coffees, hot chocolates, matchas, bubble teas, and refreshing iced infusions, all prepared each morning by the team.

Drinks, homemade pastries, and adorable cuddles
The cozy space is designed like a Japanese tea salon where visitors can gently interact with rabbits rescued by La Maison de Locky, an association based near Saintes. It's all about creating a wonderful environment for their well-being and growth.
Usagi Coffee has set up a 25 m² enclosure for the rabbits, complete with toys, hammocks, tipis, and stuffed animals to provide a fairytale-like habitat for its residents. Currently, the café has 4 rabbits, including 3 rescued from abuse and 1 abandoned, all awaiting their forever homes. In a way, like a dream temporary foster family, Usagi Coffee offers them a haven of peace. “Our goal is to raise awareness for the association located just above Saintes and hopefully find a family for our furry residents,” shares the founder.actress.

Usagi Coffee, a foster family like no other
Inspired by Japanese cafés, Usagi Coffee is a delightful little gem dressed in pink with many Kawaii references, creating a childlike, nostalgic, and comforting atmosphere. It's a new gathering place filled with warmth, tenderness, and sharing, where every visitor can leave with a little furry friend to brighten their days.
Usagi, which means rabbit in Japanese, is the result of a year of hard work. "The idea came to me after spending 2 years as a veterinary nurse. Passionate and certified as a specialized veterinary assistant, I wanted to show what it really means to have a rabbit (habitat, setup, diet, care...) to prevent impulsive adoptions" explains the 24-year-old founder.
