The city of Eysines launched on October 19th the program "I Light Up My Street" which allows users to activate street lighting during nighttime shutdown hours using geolocation on their smartphones. The concept? For 10 minutes, the light turns on in public spaces along the way, responding to residents' requests through a dedicated app or website.

Control public lighting from your smartphone
Eysines, the first city in Gironde to roll out this technology, has installed 125 electrical cabinets and 3900 streetlights that allow the town to turn on lights on demand between 1 AM and 6 AM with just a click. "I light up my street" helps to combat feelings of insecurity during nighttime outings and promotes the use of gentle mobility. This is an effective and tailored solution for balancing energy efficiency, economic savings, public safety, and the preservation of nighttime biodiversity.

Very easy to use, jallume.fr, doesn’t require you to create an account ! You just need to enter the address in your browser, accept the geolocation, and click on the lightbulb that lights up to turn on the streetlights. This is a new feature welcomed by the residents. Should Bordeaux follow the same path ?
