Due to the degradation of air quality caused by the fires affecting Gironde, the City of Talence is adapting its services. The Henri Deschamps aquatic center will remain closed until further notice, while a call for solidarity is being renewed to help the thousands of people who have been evacuated.

As the smoke from the fires continues to blanket parts of the Bordeaux metropolitan area, Talence is keeping most of its municipal services operational while enhancing precautionary measures and solidarity actions.

Henri Deschamps Nautical Stadium Closed Until Further Notice

The main consequence of declining air quality is that the Henri Deschamps Nautical Stadium, fully refurbished in 2021, will remain closed until further notice due to the smoke in the air and the shutdown of ventilation systems.

so many from the metropolis. The other municipal services will operate normally this Monday, July 27. The recreational centers and the “Sports Holidays” activities will continue, with some adjustments. However, the City recommends that, whenever possible, children stay at home.


Recommendations for Very Poor Air Quality

The City is urging residents to follow the health guidelines in place due to the smoke: limit travel and stay vigilant. 2.5 million masks are currently being distributed by Bordeaux Métropole. Residents are encouraged to check with their pharmacy for availability, as there is no direct distribution planned in the municipalities.

Users are also invited to plan their trips in advance, as disruptions may affect the TBM network.

Solidarity Continues for Evacuated Individuals

The ...The spirit of solidarity continues in Talence. The François Mauriac Space is open every day from 10 AM to 7 PM to collect donations and volunteer offers. The current priority needs are: stainless steel cutlery; baby food jars for babies aged 4 to 6 months (also suitable for elderly people); mattresses and blankets.


The City reminds everyone that no donations should be dropped off directly at the Bordeaux-Lac Exhibition Center, which is exclusively reserved for welcoming evacuated individuals.

In its announcement, the City thanks the residents of Talence for their incredible support since the launch of the donation appeal. The many contributions already received reflect a significant wave of solidarity towards affected communities and rescue services, a mobilization encouraged to continue in the coming days.
