30 years of expertise in craft gin
It all began in 1996. At that time, Alexandre Gabriel had no idea that he would be a pioneer in the global craft gin movement. In a region where cognac reigns supreme and its production is highly regulated, the founder - a creative nature - becomes a pioneer in gin production with a patent filed for progressive infusion. The principle? Infuse each botanical for a specific time to preserve their organoleptic qualities and capture their ultimate fragrance. A trailblazer in the field, he officially launched the first French craft gin which still shines 29 years later!

A masterpiece in a cathedral distillery
Thanks to its unique technology, Citadelle offers a sharp range of several 100% French artisanal gins produced in Charente. The brand stands out for its elegant, subtle, and very balanced style that has established itself as a model for enthusiasts.
On the menu, 3 permanent references that have made the success of the house: "Citadelle Original": focusing on juniper berries for purists, with a rather London-like approach, "Jardin d'été": crafted with Charentais melon and oranges, more fruity and indulgent, and finally "Citadelle Rouge": a refreshing gin infused with fresh red fruits.
Citadelle, a 100% Charentaise blend
Every 2 years, the house surprises its regulars with the appearance of limited editions available exclusively at the distillery. The latest one? The French made with Breton tea, jasmine, and bergamot. There's also a range of eccentric flavors that made a big splash last winter with the Pickle edition, a gin with pickle and raclette notes to popularize the spirit during the winter season.
The Citadelle gin shines internationally with several awards: named "produce of the year" at The Bartender Choice Awards - spirit of the year by French wine merchants or even gold medalist at the famous "World Gin Awards" held in England. The accolades are plentiful. For these exceptional bottles made with juniper berries and citrus fruits, all produced near the Château.
However, the prices are affordable and in line with the simplicity and sincerity of the house. The range ranges between €30 and €40 for 70 cl bottles. Bottles are offered 10% cheaper at the distillery than in stores. An opportunity to discover this production gem rich in history.
