Carlo Bordeaux: The payment app that thrives on local connections
After making a big splash in Monaco and then in Aix-en-Provence, the Carlo app is now setting up in Bordeaux. Launched in October in the Girondin capital, this Monegasque app is run by the children of local shopkeepers from the principality. The goal? To support local businesses through a local cashback program.
The very first virtual local currency
This is the first immediate cashback application in France. "When you pay at a local store, you use the app and get 5% cashback on every purchase, which can be spent again at other partner merchants," tells us Nathanaëlle, the communications officer. In this fruitful and virtuous dynamic, consumers enjoy discounts. When they spend €100, €5 is immediately credited to their virtual wallet.
For a new virtuous and circular economy
An intelligent tool aimed at encouraging citizens to consume more in their city centers and less online or in shopping malls. Reconnecting with the local community, supporting local artisans, boosting consumers' purchasing power, and in turn, that of merchants... The benefits are numerous!
100% free and available on all stores, the Carlo app has 80,000 users and 1,000 partner businesses. In Bordeaux, around 40 businesses are already part of the project. Among them? Be My Cookie, Funky Burger, Koeben, Peter Coffee Shop, the Chocolate Shop, Neya, Mimosa, BonEndroi, Vermuteria Vitalès, Sisterettes, and Tista!
In line with its concept, Carlo aims to establish itself in small to medium-sized cities. With the ultimate goal of creating connections between local merchants and residents, it focuses on pedestrian-friendly downtown areas that feel just right. Bordeaux was an obvious choice for this third location. With a strong bond between Bordeaux residents and their local shops, the jewel of Aquitaine was chosen naturally.
