Paris, Marseille, and Bordeaux: The Losing Trio of French Traffic
We were all eagerly waiting for this! Every year begins with the much-anticipated "Global Traffic Scorecard", prepared by an American traffic information company. The verdict? London remains the most congested urban area in Europe, but the French capital (6th place), Marseille (53rd place), and Bordeaux (59th place) are hot on its heels.
According to the study, drivers in London spent an average of 101 hours stuck in traffic each year, while Parisians spent 97 hours, Marseillais 55 hours, and Bordeaux drivers completed the national top 3 with 54 hours lost (equivalent to 2 days) in jams.
8% Less Traffic Jams in One Year in Bordeaux
While Bordeaux makes an unfortunate appearance in the list of the world's most congested cities, it's worth noting that congestion has decreased by 8% since 2023 and by 13% since 2022. The struggle is real, but it seems we are headed in the right direction...
Globally, the Turkish capital once again takes the crown for the worst traffic jams with 105 hours of congestion, ahead of New York (102 hours) and Chicago (102 hours). The study looked at over 900 cities in 37 countries across all five continents, using various data sources collected from drivers' smartphones and vehicles.
