A 100% Regional Ticketing System
Starting at the end of 2025, the Region will be gradually rolling out new ticket vending machines at several train stations, aiming to make ticket purchases easier and enhance intermodality. The Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region is taking control of ticket sales, with a clear, intuitive, and accessible interface for everyone.
Initially, the machines will offer the purchase of simple regional tickets, with or without discounts, weekly and monthly subscriptions, as well as the top-up of the Modalis card. In Gironde, it is already possible to combine TER subscriptions and TBM tickets.
Towards a Unified Transport Offer
Ultimately, these vending machines will go beyond just trains. The Region plans to gradually integrate ticket purchases for regional buses and partner urban transport networks. Other features are also in the works: sending tickets by email,
travel route suggestions based on commuting habits, along with a multilingual interface featuring both English and Spanish.
Regional Experimentation Before National Rollout
In Gironde, new vending machines are already up and running at Bordeaux Saint-Jean (Belcier side) and in Pessac. An installation is also planned at the new Talence-Médoquine stop. The experimentation is also taking place in other areas, with equipment being deployed in Dax in Landes, Limoges in Haute-Vienne, and La Souterraine in Creuse. This testing phase aims to evaluate usage and how travelers adapt to these machines before a large-scale rollout.
If the experimentation is successful, the Region plans to install 190 vending machines in 174 stations and stops across Nouvelle-Aquitaine, adding nearly 30% more machines. This is another step toward simplified, more autonomous, and better-connected regional mobility.
