A Slight Comeback
Every year, it's the same old story. Holidu, the famous vacation rental search engine, relies on data from Google Maps to rank the best and worst airports in Europe. The 2024 rankings have just been released. While Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport had been sitting at the top of the worst airports in Europe for 2 years, it has dropped one place and is now second to last, just behind the d'Héraklion Airport in Crete.
.
"Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport has experienced a slight improvement in the ranking of the worst airports in Europe, moving from first to second place, according to Google reviews. With a score of 2.8 on Google Maps, based on 12,603 reviews, the airport seems to be making efforts to improve the quality of its services" , the survey points out. Although its position is not very enviable, this progress is a positive sign.
The best is yet to come!
Bordeaux Airport, fully aware of its shortcomings and taking passenger feedback to heart, has announced a huge €130 million project from 2026 to 2028 aimed at creating a central and flexible infrastructure that meets the highest European standards in passenger experience. The Bili terminals, halls A and B will be revamped, the buildings will be modernized, and facilities will be upgraded.
Additionally, commercial spaces will be set up to provide an optimized experience.

It all depends on the criteria
Additionally, it's important to remember that this Holidu study does not align with the ranking from AirHelp published last July. This ranking, based on data from airports around the world, is considered to be the most comprehensive and accurate. In total, 240 airports from 70 different countries were analyzed and compared. And in this edition, Bordeaux-Mérignac ranks 4th among the best airports in France and is in the 150th position among the best airports in the world.
With an overall average of 7.43, it received 7.1 for punctuality, 7.8 for passenger feedback, and 8 for services. A lovely final score that allows it to rise just behind Toulouse, Nantes, and Lyon at the top of the national ranking.
In this same positive spir
it, Bordeaux Airport was voted the most punctual in France - and 8th in Europe - according to the investment site BestBrokers.
