Escales du Livre: When Literature Takes the Stage in Bordeaux
More than just a literary salon, the annual event organized by Les Escales Littéraires since 2002 is a must-see in the Bordeaux cultural scene. With the bold challenge of exploring all interdisciplinarity and artistic crossovers, it focuses on a wide-ranging intergenerational program that includes dance, theater, music, as well as gastronomy, battles, and open stages. Always starting with a book and putting its author on stage!

A transdisciplinary program in the Sainte-Croix neighborhood
For its 22nd edition, which will take place all over the vibrant Sainte-Croix neighborhood - like an intellectual and playful walk - Les Escales du Livre will welcome nearly 200 French and international authors and illustrators, from general literature to children's literature to manga, 74 exhibitors including 11 independent bookstores, and will offer to an ever-growing audience meetings, debates, performances, and shows.

Exciting Highlights with Reservation (sometimes fully booked)
At the same time, the event invites the people of Bordeaux to 14 shows and 20 musical and illustrated readings including 10 new creations, 26 artists, and 4 interactive formats. This year, there will be many new features such as a treasure hunt offered by Urban Quest, a video game area, and impromptu performances by the Transversal Improvisation Group from the Bordeaux Conservatory.

Among the highlights? A taste reading, a compliments battle with the best mom, 2 murder parties, a finger food evening, an open mic poetry session, a hip-hop drawing performance, and several shows for children. Some events, held every year and highly appreciated by the general public, are already fully booked.

The Escales du Livre will delight literature lovers with great interviews with authors at the heart of current events - Beata Umubyeyi Mairesse, Le convoi (Flammarion) - Nancy Huston, Francia (Actes Sud) - Gérard Mordillat, Les exaltés (Calmann-Lévy) - Magyd Cherfi, La vie de ma mère! (Actes Sud). Not to mention the independent and emerging talents who benefit from a beautiful showcase to shine.
