The Grande Maison is Looking for its New Owner in Bordeaux

A piece of Bordeaux's culinary and architectural heritage is on the lookout for a new caretaker. The Grande Maison by Bernard Magrez, a magnificent 18th-century private hotel located at 10 rue Labottière, is now for sale for 6.3 million euros, which includes 300,000 euros in fees.

Offered by the Barnes agency, this stunning residence boasts 700 m², spread over four levels, and includes ten rooms, a beautifully cut stone facade, wrought-iron balconies, artwork on the walls, a 100 m² terrace, and charming French gardens.

A witness to the Bordeaux culinary scene

Very renowned, La Grande Maison welcomed a twice-starred restaurant, under the guidance of Pierre Gagnaire and chef Jean-Denis Le Bras back in 2014. Before that, Joël Robuchon was in the kitchen. Although the temporary closure was announced, the establishment ultimately closed its doors in 2020, hit hard by the health crisis and the collapse of international tourism.

For Bernard Magrez, a key figure in the wine world — owner of the Bernard Magrez Cultural Institute, Château Pape Clément, and other prestigious classified growths — this prestigious place was an expensive adventure: nearly one million euros in annual losses for six years. Five years later, the businessman is turning the page.
