As heatwave episodes increase, TBM has set up a specific organization to limit disruptions caused by high temperatures. Buses, trams, and maintenance teams are mobilized to ensure service continuity throughout the summer.

250 recent buses mobilized during the summer

As part of the summer schedule, only the 250 newest buses will operate on the network until August 30. These vehicles are better suited for high temperatures and will also allow for quicker replacements in case of breakdowns. TBM also announces the gradual arrival of 10 new articulated Iveco Urbanway buses, which will strengthen the fleet during the summer.

Enhanced Measures for Trams

On the tram side, 77 trams will continue to run on the 6 lines of the network. To prepare for any potential overheating, TBM has reorganized the distribution of its trams among the depots of Bastide, Achard, and La Jallère.  5 additional backup trams will be positioned at La Jallère to ensure they can be quickly deployed back into service if needed.

When a tram overheats, it is taken back to the depot, cooled down using the cleaning facilities, and then reintegrated into the network as soon as conditions allow.

In response to the temperatures expected through mid-July, TBM has set up a dedicated monitoring unit with daily briefings to keep track of the situation.

to quickly adapt the measures if weather conditions change. The goal is to maintain both the comfort of travelers and the working conditions of the drivers as well as the agents present on the ground.
