Bordeaux will host the largest sailing race in the world!

37 years after the memorable stopover of the Cutty Sark Tall Ships’ Races in 1990, Bordeaux is welcoming back the grand sailing ships. In 2027, the metropolis will become the starting port of the Tall Ships Races, one of the most prestigious international sailing-ship races, associated for the occasion with Bordeaux Fête le Vin.

5 days of celebration along the quays

From July 7 to 11, 2027, the quays on both the left and right banks will turn into a massive festive village stretching over 3 kilometers. The program includes visits to the ships, meetings with the crews, concerts, DJ sets, family activities, nighttime shows, and tastings.

More than 800,000 visitors are expected to discover this spectacular meeting of maritime heritage and wine culture.


40 yachts from around the world

More than 40 magnificent tall ships from 14 countries will dock in Bordeaux with nearly 1,800 sailors. Among the confirmed ships are the Belem, the Statsraad Lehmkuhl, the Europa, the Santa Maria Manuela, and Le Français.

On July 7, the tall ships will arrive in two spectacular waves on the Garonne River. On July 11, the grand departure parade will send the fleet off to La Coruña, the first stop of the race.

Wine at the heart of the event

Bordeaux Fête le Vin will take on a larger-than-life dimension. More than 1,000 vineyards will...Winegrowers and merchants will be present to showcase the diversity of wines from Bordeaux and New Aquitaine. Nearly 80 appellations will be represented along the quays, accompanied by a gastronomic village dedicated to regional specialties.

The Tall Ships Races places education at the heart of its project. In Bordeaux, nearly 200 young people aged 15 to 25 will have the chance to embark on the tall ships to participate in the first leg from Bordeaux to La Coruña.

Spread across about 10 ships, they will take part in life on board: maneuvers, watchkeeping, meals, maintenance, and collective organization.
