Arcachon is getting tough!
No more playing around with dog poop in Arcachon! The town hall of this seaside resort has decided to take a firm stand against the rise in uncollected dog waste. To keep the streets clean and pleasant, they have chosen to strike hard (and right at the source) against irresponsible and careless pet owners. From now on, anyone who forgets to pick up their furry friend's mess risks a hefty €750 fine! That's definitely enough motivation to encourage even the most stubborn to grab their poop bags.
Salty Fines to Encourage Better Living Together
The municipality of Arcachon hopes that these new measures will encourage dog owners to be more civic-minded. After all, no one likes to walk down a street littered with droppings, and these two new obligations should help improve the cleanliness and hygiene of our public spaces. With a focus on combating incivility, Arcachon is increasing financial penalties in hopes of achieving a "better living together." Other recently introduced fines also support this goal: €150 for going shirtless, €450 for a noisy party, €750 for littering a cigarette butt, or smoking on the beach being illegal now!€150 per cigarette consumed on the beach.
The campaign consists of awareness posters plastered all over the city. A video-verbalization system has been implemented to support the police in the field, allowing for remote sanctions as well. The goal? Preserve the quality of life for tourists and locals in Arcachon: “These are values defended by the municipality that works daily to ensure the comfort and tranquility of its residents,” specifies Arcachon on its social media.
