Last Saturday, at the Matmut Atlantique stadium, during the Girondins match against Guingamp, the Honduran forward of the Girondins had to leave the field just a few seconds into the game after receiving a strong blow to the temple. The 28-year-old player was quickly taken to Pellegrin Hospital in Bordeaux where he underwent surgery overnight. Due to a head injury, the medical team decided to place him in a medically induced coma for his safety.

The Club expects to not be able to communicate any decisive new information for a few days and will not make any new comments on Alberth's health status" stated the Girondins in their statement, published this Sunday afternoon. The club also indicated that a psychological support team will be put in place quickly to support the Club's employees during these difficult times.
