This Sunday, a shell was found on the Carcans coastline in the Gironde region. In light of this risk, the municipality made an immediate decision: to prohibit access to the southern, central, and northern ocean beaches while waiting for the intervention of the bomb disposal team.

Carcans Beaches Closed for Safety Reasons

As soon as the device was discovered, the relevant services were alerted. Authorities quickly established a safety perimeter to avoid any danger. The town hall is calling for vigilance: "Strollers are strongly invited to strictly respect the prohibited zones and the signage in place". A scheduled demining operation

A demining team's intervention is scheduled for this Monday afternoon to neutralize the explosive device. This type of operation, conducted by specialists, requires strict safety conditions and may lead to temporary access restrictions to the coastline.

The phenomenon is quite well-known along the coast. As a reminder, this discovery comes just a few weeks after a similar incident in the Arcachon basin. At the end of February, about forty shells were uncovered at Lège-Cap-Ferret, following the collapse of a blockhouse caused by erosion.
