The Editor

This is a major new milestone for Bordeaux airport and its 4 million passengers per year (excluding Billi). Between 2026 and 2030, the heart of terminals A and B will undergo a major transformation to streamline the passenger journey, modernize baggage handling and security checks, improve comfort, and reduce the building's resource consumption. Total project cost: 140 million euros.

A new heart connecting terminals A and B

The main objective is to create a shared central space, with more intuitive pathways between check-in, security controls, waiting areas, shops, and various services.

This reorganization should modernize several essential facilities, such as the baggage handling and delivery system. In the long term, the ambition is also environmental: the future building is promised to be more sober and adapted to tomorrow's climate.

The timeline of major milestones

The transformation will happen gradually. In the second half of 2027, a new façade will begin to shape the architectural identity of the complex connecting halls A and B. Starting from the first quarter of 2028, the first lines of the new central security checkpoint should open, while the check-in areas of Hall B will be modernized.

Then, at the end of 2028, it will be the turn of the new baggage handling system and the future baggage claim area to come into service. The first new retail spaces will also open during this period with a 5,000 m2 space dedicated to dining, shopping and relaxation.

A complete transformation expected by 2030

You'll have to wait until 2030 to discover the airport's brand new look. A delicate operation since it will be carried out without shutting the airport down. Work will therefore advance in stages, with temporary routes clearly marked to maintain departures, arrivals, and security checks throughout the entire construction period.

After Billi, Bordeaux Airport continues its transformation

This new phase follows the transformation of the Billi terminal, dedicated to low-cost flights. After 8 months of construction and 3.5 million euros in investment, it benefited in 2025 from an expansion of over 600 m², as well as a reorganization of its spaces to improve passenger experience.
