A historic site in Bordeaux open to the curious
This is an exceptional opening. The Amphithéâtre Palais Gallien, the last monumental witness of ancient Burdigala, will host a Village of Archeology on June 15th for the 16th edition of the European Days of Archeology. From 10 AM to 6 PM, this Roman venue will come alive with a scientific and festive atmosphere organized by Cap’Archéo, Inrap, the University of Bordeaux Montaigne, and the Musée d’Aquitaine.
Tours, workshops, meetings… a lively dive into the past
On the agenda: flash tours of the site (at 11 AM, 2 PM, 3 PM, and 4 PM), ongoing workshops for all ages – gladiator combat, Egyptian writing, preventive archaeology, anthropological investigations, ancient ceramics, or archaeozoology. Pet
and adults can also explore the behind-the-scenes of stone carving, ancient writings, or excavation tools, alongside passionate researchers. Check out the entire program right here.
A Grand Celebration of Archaeological Heritage
Designed as a joyful public festival of knowledge and sharing, this free event is for everyone. Students, archaeologists, stonemasons, and historians will be there to chat, lead games, and share the latest updates on local research, from Saint-Seurin to Sainte-Croix.
