An ancient treasure on the shores of the Gironde
Nestled on the hillside, overlooking the estuary, the Gallo-Roman villa of Plassac, classified as a Historic Monument, offers a rare glimpse into the aristocratic life in Aquitaine between the 1st and 5th centuries. Three successive villas were built here, revealing a refined residential complex that blends Roman art with local techniques.

Mosaics, Baths, and Views of the Estuary
The site stands out with its stunning geometric mosaics, remnants of private baths, colonnades, and opus signinum floors. All of this comes together to create an elegant ensemble with a breathtaking view of the Gironde. Excavations, initiated in 1968, have allowed for the reconstruction of the estate's evolution over several centuries. An adjacent museum space completes the visit with models, objects discovered on-site, and augmented reality reconstructions.
Free Workshops and Tours This Weekend
The villa welcomes visitors, families, and students in a shaded and peaceful setting. Guided tours, archaeological workshops, temporary exhibitions, and summer events bring life to the season.
