The Gironde capital is pulling out all the stops for July 14th. Three days of fun, sweat, colors, and music, culminating in an eco-friendly fireworks display over the Garonne. Guaranteed good vibes from the quays to the fire stations.
A Firecracker of a Program for July 14th
The festivities kick off on Saturday, July 12th, with the highly anticipated firefighters' ball at Quai des Chartrons, from 6:30 PM to 2 AM. The following day, Sunday, July 13th, it's another round at Allée Serr with the Benauge association, and at the Ornano fire station for a special 1920s evening, running until 4 AM. Every year, the firefighters heat up the dance floor, and the people of Bordeaux always show up in full force.
On Monday, July 14th, the day officially kicks off at 7 PM with a military ceremony at Place des Quinconces. At the same time, a huge picnic will be held on both banks of the Garonne: on the Quinconces side at the Prairie des Girondins, and on the Bastide side at Allée Serr. Food trucks will be on hand while music fills the air until 1 AM, featuring concerts, DJ sets, and fun activities to keep the celebration going.
A Sustainable Firework Show at 10:30 PM
At 10:30 PM, the highlight of the event: a twenty-minute firework display, created by the legendary Ruggieri, launched from a barge facing the water mirror. This year, Bordeaux is focusing on a lead-free, plastic-free, and chlorate-free show, with gradual launches to avoid scaring birds (and it’s better to leave dogs at home). The stone bridge will be closed to pedestrians and cyclists for the entire duration of the fireworks, from 10 PM to 11 PM.
