110 hectares of refuge for hundreds of thousands of birds

Founded over 40 years ago, the Teich Ornithological Reserve is a sanctuary for wild birds. Thanks to its prime location between the Landes forest and the Arcachon Bay, it welcome up to 300,000 migratory or resident birds each year.

In total, 323 species have already been recorded here. Some, like the white storks, great egrets, or seagulls, can be seen for a large part of the year, while others only stop by during their migration.

A 6 km stroll close to wildlife

The visit takes place on foot along two lovely trails: a family loop of 2.5 km and a complete route of 6 km, which you can explore in 3 to 4 hours.

Throughout the path, about twenty observation points and viewpoints allow you to get close to the birds without disturbing them. Binoculars can be borrowed at the reception so you can fully enjoy the show. In the summer, guided tours are also offered in the morning or at dusk with a nature guide, by reservation.

A site to discover in every season

Each time of year reveals a different face of the reserve. It's impossible to see all the species in just one visit: migrations, nesting periods, and tides dictate the presence of the birds.

The site also provides the best visiting times according to the tides as well as an updated count of observed species, allowing visitors to choose the perfect moment.
