A Festive Tribute to Bordeaux's History
In the summer of 1944, joy swept through Bordeaux as it was liberated after four years of occupation. Eighty-one years later, the City has chosen to keep this memory alive with music and dance. “This summer highlight invites us to gather and celebrate a significant moment in our history,” emphasizes the municipality. So, mark your calendars for this Saturday, August 30, 2025, to celebrate the Liberation of Bordeaux.

Swing, Rock, and 40s-50s Vibes
Starting at 7 PM, everyone is invited to a giant picnic at the foot of the Saint-André Cathedral, with tables and benches set up for your enjoyment. The swing dance lesson will kick off at 8 PM, led by the Swingtime Bordeaux association, before the dance floor comes alive with the sounds of the Hot Swing Sextet and various DJ sets until midnight. To enhance the immersive experience, everyone is encouraged to dress up in 40s-50s style.
A Community Dance for Everyone
There will be a food area for those who haven't prepared their picnic baskets. The city also encourages participants to use reusable containers to help reduce waste.

Last year, the dance was abruptly interrupted by heavy rain and gusty winds. Let's hope that this year, the weather will be kinder for this wonderful event filled with memories and friendship!
