A True Revolution in the Railway Sector
November 2028 will mark a turning point in the history of European transportation. A new high-speed train connecting Bordeaux to Barcelona will officially be inaugurated, taking just 45 minutes! Until now, traveling between Bordeaux and Barcelona could take up to six hours. In just three years, this lengthy journey will be a thing of the past. The "Vitesse d'Or" promises to link the two cities in a record time of 45 minutes. This incredible feat is made possible by a brand-new railway technology that combines exceptional acceleration with reduced friction. This project, aiming to provide unprecedented connectivity between the two cities, is now on the verge of becoming a reality.
The project was initiated by SNCF International, in partnership with the Spanish company Renfe and several tech startups. It’s part of a modernization plan for the European rail network and aims to strengthen exchanges between France and Spain. The total project cost is estimated at 1.8 billion euros, a figure considered reasonable by authorities, given the expected economic benefits for both regions.
Cutting-Edge Technology and Comfort
The "Golden Speed" relies on a magnetic propulsion technology, called hyperRail, which allows the train to travel at speeds of up to 600 km/h. This system uses specially designed tracks to minimize friction and optimize speed. Additionally, a series of specially designed stations will ensure ultra-fast stops, around 30 seconds.
, allowing passengers to reach their final destination without any wasted time. The journey between the two regional capitals, traversing the beautiful Pyrenees region, will offer an unprecedented travel experience. Passengers will be able to enjoy exceptional panoramic views through windows designed to maximize visibility. Each train will be equipped with comfort that rivals the best hotels, featuring leather seats, work tables, high-speed Wi-Fi, and even a café-bar area to relax throughout the journey.
Economic benefits for both regions
The launch of this express train is expected to have a significant impact on the local economy. According to Pierre Dupont, managing director of SNCF International, “This new line will not only strengthen the cultural and tourist ties...e Bordeaux and Barcelona, but also opening up new business opportunities. The tourism industry will benefit, and commercial relations between France and Spain will experience unprecedented growth.”
Affordable Access Rates
Despite its high cost, the “Vitesse d'Or” is aimed at a wide audience, with competitive prices. A standard ticket for a single trip will be offered starting at €49, with special promotions for young people, seniors, and families. Tickets will be available on the SNCF and Renfe platforms, and it will also be possible to reserve seats in advance.
Passengers will also be able to benefit from an exclusive loyalty program, allowing them to accumulate points for future trips or discounts.
