Bordeaux, paradise for pedestrians? This is certainly confirmed by The Economist, which ranked the city 15th in the world for "walkability." In other words, it’s one of the metropolises where everything is just a hop away on foot. This distinction is quite significant in a world where soft mobility is becoming a key criterion for quality of life.
The study, conducted by experts from Sony Computer Science Laboratories in Rome, analyzed over 10,000 cities by calculating the average time needed to walk to essential services: schools, hospitals, shops, and restaurants. R&eac.
Result: Lyon wins a gold medal for urban greenery in France, with an average access time to infrastructure of just 7.4 minutes and 93% of the population living within a radius where everything is reachable in 15 minutes on foot. Bordeaux shines as well with an average time (better than the capital of Gaul) of 8.5 minutes to access infrastructure and 89.8% of the population living in a radius where everything is accessible in 15 minutes on foot.
