Giant giveaways of free helmets for cyclists are set to take place in Bordeaux!

With summer and its big festive events just around the corner, the electric bike operator Bird is ramping up its prevention campaign by handing out free helmets at various locations in the Bordeaux metropolis. The goal: to remind everyone of the importance of wearing a bike helmet, a gesture that is still too rare but absolutely essential.

Two Free Distributions in June

After raising awareness among cyclists in Eysines and Pessac, Bird is back with two exciting events for free helmet distributions:

  • On June 14th, celebrating the Sports and Cycling Festival in Saint-Médard-en-Jalles, from 2 PM to 8 PM at the Robert Monseau Sports Complex.

  • On June 17th, during the Mobility Day at Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport, from 10 AM to 4 PM.

Helmets in Baskets During Major Events

Also, from June 19 to 22, in celebration of Bordeaux Fête le Vin and Fête de la Musique, Bird will be placing new helmets right into the baskets of its self-service bikes. This original initiative is designed to reach a wider audience in a festive atmosphere where good habits should always be kept.

Wearing a bike helmet can save a life. Yet, only 30% of French people do it consistently. As a player in the soft mobility scene (with a fleet of 1,000 electric bikes available for rent in the Bordeaux Metropolis), Bird aims to make this equipment more accessible and normalize the safety habit. These initiatives are carried out in partnership with the Road Safety of Gironde.
