Organized by the Briscadieu auction house following the restaurant's judicial liquidation, this exceptional sale will take place over 4 sessions on Thursday, October 8th and Friday, October 9th, 2026, at 10am and 2pm. Enthusiasts and collectors will have the chance to go home with a piece of the impressive wine collection amassed by the legendary Bordeaux gastronomic institution.
7,500 bottles and 1,200 references up for grabs
The numbers are staggering. No fewer than 7,500 bottles will be offered for sale, spread across around 1,200 different references
While Bordeaux naturally holds pride of place in the catalog, Gabriel's wine collection had far exceeded the boundaries of the Gironde vineyards. Burgundy and other great French appellations beautifully complement this collection designed to accompany the cuisine of a doubly Michelin-starred restaurant. Among the references are notably wines from Margaux, Pauillac and Barsac, as well as Chablis, Corton-Charlemagne and Chassagne-Montrachet.

Fine wines up for auction in Bordeaux
Estimates vary considerably depending on the estates, vintages, formats, and number of bottles in each lot. For example, a bottle of Château Margaux 1995 appears in the catalog with an estimate between €190 and €210.
Please note, however: these amounts remain estimates and do not correspond to the final price. The auction will determine the hammer price, to which 14.28% VAT buyer's fees will be added. An additional markup of 1.8% VAT is provided for live auctions via the platforms indicated by the auction house.
The end of an era for Le Gabriel
Behind this spectacular dispersal lies the end of a chapter in Bordeaux's gastronomic history. Located in the Pavillon on Place de la Bourse and owned since 2019
by Château Angélus, Le Gabriel definitively closed its doors on June 27, 2026. The restaurant, which boasted 2 Michelin stars, was subsequently placed in judicial liquidation. The sale of its wine cellar is therefore being conducted by court order.
Bottles on display before the sale
Curious visitors and future bidders alike can discover the lots during a public exhibition on Wednesday, October 7, from 10am to 12pm then from 2pm to 6pm, at Briscadieu's premises in Bordeaux.
Sales will then take place Thursday 8 and Friday 9 October at 10am and 2pm. You can bid in person, but also by mail bid, by telephone or online after registration.
