One of the most beautiful culinary success stories. 7 years ago, Anthony Ayçaguer opened his restaurant Blisss in Mérignac with his wife. At the beginning, it was just a simple lunch bistro. Today, it is one of the best gourmet restaurants. "Our clientele pushed us and we got caught up in the game," says Anthony. A great success considering that Blisss is now ranked number 1 in Mérignac, Gironde, and Nouvelle-Aquitaine on all the restaurants listed on Tripadvisor.
This online reputation, "we have to own it," asserts the manager. He adds: "before the health crisis, most of our clientele came from internet reviews. Now it's 50/50. There is traditional word of mouth. At least we know it's not just talk." It was only 6 months after its opening that Blisss landed the top spot for restaurants in the city on the platform. Contrary to what one might think, Blisss is a small family establishment. Anthony is the head chef and is accompanied by his 20-year-old son, while his wife is in charge of service. This 14-seat space may seem small, but it is perfect for a friendly, peaceful, and warm evening. You will encounter food lovers who will pass on their passion to you every second. Because proximity is one of their main pillars. In addition to having an open kitchen, the team has some nice surprises and entertainment prepared for you throughout the meal. The two men will serve you dishes that they will flambé, break, and finish in front of you. Or you can take the hammer yourself and break open the shell hiding a product to taste... At any moment, the allure is always present.
The question you are asking yourself: what do they offer to eat? Well, we don't have the answer. Because Anthony and his family have something extraordinary in store for you. A surprise menu, from cocktails to sweet treats. But that's not all. You will have to find the ingredients of the nine dishes served. As the chef says, it's a personal signature cuisine, different, outside any code, with unique combinations. To delight your taste buds, the two men take classic products and turn them into masterpieces.Everyone knows it, and they approach it with completely different angles. Each ingredient is featured at least three times. You can taste carrots in puree and in chips. The products are mostly local, but flavor and quality are paramount. About a hundred wines are offered. Classics remain present but the menu is always changing every two to three months. And don't forget about the menu's side dishes, which are not always listed, leaving you pleasantly surprised. The restaurant cannot modify its dishes according to dietary restrictions.
