Mini-festivals in the heart of Bordeaux

On Saturday, the city of Bordeaux is all set to celebrate the art of living from Euskadi. Starting at 5 PM, the Place du Palais and the surrounding streets, including Rue des Argentiers and Rue du Chai des Farines, will be completely closed to traffic to welcome "Our Terraces in Celebration", a big friendly celebration initiated by the Maison Basque in collaboration with the neighborhood merchants. This first edition aims to infuse the warm and festive spirit of the Southwest’s festivals into the heart of the Gironde capital.

Typical dishes, traditional dances, and Basque songs

Right from the start of the festival, the roaming performances will immerse the audience in the atmosphere. Young dancers from the Leinua association will make the cobblestones resonate with traditional steps, while the vibrant band Band’a Leo will set the musical vibe. The Basque House singing group will add its vocal touch, singing typical melodies from the region.

At 8:30 PM, the Mirua group will take over the Porte Cailhau for a live concert blending traditional Basque music and electronic rhythms. Then, starting at 10 PM, DJ Peau d’Orange will keep the square dancing with an electro-house set until midnight, turning the heart of the neighborhood into an open-air dance floor.

For this special occasion, local restaurateurs will adapt their terraces and menus. At the Maison Basque stand, visitors will be able to taste talos, typical corn cakes, enjoy golden croquetas, and indulge in homemade fries. All of this will be accompanied by craft beers and ciders imported straight from the Basque Country.

A free event open to everyone

Free and no registration required, the party is open to all. Participants are invited to dress in white and red, to really get into the spirit of the traditional festivities. Supported by the local town hall, this event...This event is all about celebrating Basque culture while bringing together locals, shopkeepers, and visitors passing through!
