All Roads Lead to the Bauhaus
Three years ago, A Bar With Shapes For A Name surprised the east of the British capital with a concept that can't be summed up in words, but rather in shapes. Its powerful and explosive identity, this stunning cocktail bar owes it to the history and theory of Bauhaus, the famous German school of architecture closed in the 1930s by the Nazis. Sleek and inspired by the artistic movement that’s all about primary shapes and colors, A Bar With Shapes For A Name ranks every year among the top 50 cocktail bars in the world.
From London to Bordeaux, there's just a shaker!
Riding high on its success and with popularity that knows no borders, the London cocktail bar has set up shop in Bordeaux. Its grand opening a few weeks ago near the Porte de Bourgogne made quite a splash in an area where such prestigious spots are becoming rarer. The Bordeaux expansion naturally takes on the name "A bar with shapes" and carries over the same exceptional ingredients.
Remy Savage, the cherry on top of the spirits
The menu of this high-end cocktail bar is crafted by Remy Savage, a prominent figure in the cocktail world who has been awarded the title of best mixologist in the world. Every drink is a masterpiece, inspired by art and architecture. The 12 recipes are original creations, entirely homemade, with a laboratory-level precision. The bartenders - known as interns - regularly travel to London for training, continuously perfecting their mastery of mixology in its most exquisite form.

Among the must-tries? Remember, among others, the « Kasimir » made with vodka and clarified peach yogurt from the Burdigala dairy, the « Pastel » which is the house star with vodka, rhubarb, and raspberry, and the « Atlas » featuring whisky, milk jam, and tonka bean. Despite the skill and expertise needed to craft them, these cocktails are offered at prices accessible to everyone: ranging from €7 to €14 for the most elaborate one.

And if a Bar with Shapes for a Name naturally fits into the exclusive list of the trendiest spots in Bordeaux, it aims to connect with a wide audience and make its top-notch cocktails accessible to everyone. To achieve this, it also offers a small food menu featuring fresh ingredients paired with cocktail components, such as sandwiches and brownies. Plus, there’s a fun twist with Bordeaux's signature take on classic drinks like the lychee beer and rhubarb kir!
Designed as the students of Bauhaus might have envisioned it 100 years after its peak, the Bar with Forms features a minimal and sleek space with an outdoor terrace for 20 guests, a cozy presentation room, and a back area envisioned as a creative laboratory where guests are invited to explore the creation process of each bottle.
What's the goal? To make high-end cocktails accessible in an immersive setting that blends aesthetics and depth of spirit in every square meter.
