From Cleats to the Counter, It’s Just a Step Away

Ten full seasons with Union Bordeaux-Bègles, legendary third-halves, and a popularity that goes beyond the pitch: Blair Connor is a prominent figure in Bordeaux rugby. He arrived from Australia at the age of 20 to join UBB and has since become a true Bordeaux local. When he hangs up his cleats, he dives into a completely different playground: the world of bars. After his first experience as a partner at Dog and Duck, he decides to start his own venture.

The former UBB winger has founded Connor’s Bar, a warm and lively Australian bar located at 16 cours du Chapeau Rouge. At the crossroads of a sports pub and a neighborhood bar, this establishment delights with its relaxed vibe and authenticity.

Along with his wife Natasha, the former UBB winger has created Connor's Bar, a warm and lively Australian bar located at 16 cours du Chapeau Rouge. At the crossroads of the sports pub and the neighborhood bar, the establishment is charming with its relaxed vibe and genuine atmosphere.

A next-generation sports pub

Set in the place of the former Contrast brunch, the Connor's Bar breaks the mold: gone are the dark and noisy Irish pubs, welcome to a bright, inclusive, and cozy space. Yes, rugby is a must (it can't be missed), but you can also catch football, tennis, F1, or golf — up to 7 different games simultaneously on as many screens. Sports can be found everywhere, even in the decor: vintage photos, second-hand finds, and upcycled furniture (special shoutout to the pallets discovered in front of a supermarket).

Local beers and a laid-back atmosphere

Here, the foam flows freely, always in a local and artisanal way: La Canaulaise, Azimut (with an Australian beer made just for them), Effet Papillon… Twelve draft beers (including ciders), not to mention alcohol-free, gluten-free options, and well-thought-out cocktails (or mocktails) — including names that reference sports, sports personalities, and Australian culture. With sweet prices, there's a clear intention: to stay accessible.

The bar for friends, for real

Connor's is a cheerful hangout where you can find trendy thirty-somethings mingling with neighborhood regulars, families, and Saturday night party-goers. And sometimes, at the bar, you'll spot some rugby faces: Nans Ducuing, Jean-Baptiste Dubié, and Yann Lesgourgues, who are also partners in the project, regularly join in for a toast with friends.

When it comes to activities, the schedule is anything but dull. Weekly billiards and darts competitions, a monthly chess tournament, themed quizzes hosted with humor, and partner nights featuring Saint-Germain and other beverage brands keep the vibe lively. And Thursdays? It's all about afterworks, where the concept of a trendy bar is quite popular among the local workers.

And for those beautiful days? A terrace with 56 seats... but not just anywhere. Nestled on the magnificent Cours du Chapeau Rouge, it enjoys a rare setting in Bordeaux: historic architecture, trees, sunshine, tranquility, and especially no cars in sight. A true urban luxury, blending heritage elegance with serenity.

A Taste of Australia Right in Bordeaux

With its laid-back vibe, great soundtrack, local beers, and a spirit of friendship, Connor's Bar has truly found its place in the city. Blair Connor has infused it with everything he loves: sports, people, and good beer. The result? A place that reflects him: generous, simple, and welcoming. A winning combo!
