"Khufu's Horizon" in Bordeaux

An incredibly immersive virtual reality experience has set up shop in Bordeaux at 19-21 rue Saint-Sernin. Right in the city center, just a stone's throw from Place Gambetta, Bordelais can travel back 4500 years and discover spaces that were previously closed to the public.

This unique experience is the result of several years of research and data collected on site, in partnership with Peter Der Manuelian, a professor of Egyptology and his team at the Giza Project, Harvard University.

A dive into the heart of Egyptian history

As the sun rises over the  necropolis of Giza, discover  the three famous pyramids of Egypt like you've never seen them before. That's how this  extraordinary epic begins, taking us from the tomb of King Khufu to the top of one of the seven wonders of the world (and we've never been this high this easily). But be careful, the faint-hearted might feel dizzy.

A Grandiose Journey back in Time

This monument, as mystical as it is imposing, whose construction techniques may forever remain unknown to us, will no longer hold any secrets for budding archaeologists after a 45-minute visit. Funerary chambers, decorations of all kinds, and areas traditionally closed to the public come to life before your eyes. And don't worry, you can roam around safely as a security system warns you of a very real wall on the screen.

Technology at the service of history

Thanks to a titanic work, this VR, more real than life, then takes us back in time to bring us live to the funeral of King Khufu. After a little boat trip on the Nile, we discover all the tricks and details of these sacred ceremonies such as embalming and mummification. The prowess and magic of technology are undeniable here, as the experience transports us to a dreamy and fantastic world.

Whether it's a way to fulfill a childhood dream or to discover a new passion, a Bordeaux/Cairo journey in just a few minutes by tram is really worth it. But be careful,  returning to reality could be a bit difficult after so many emotions.
