Cyclists Better Off in Bordeaux than Anywhere Else

For this new study, the experts at Buycycle really did their homework by considering no less than 8 criteria to establish the ranking. Among them: the importance of bike lanes, weather conditions, the number of bike shops, and even bike-sharing stations. They even interviewed users to get a level of satisfaction.

The verdict? Bordeaux has the third lowest air pollution rate among the 40 cities analyzed. Add to that a good overall feeling from cyclists (3.4) and 2642 routes along the coast to charm nature lovers. The study also mentions that Bordeaux is ideal for casual cyclists, with 86 bike-sharing stations and 81 bike shops in the city.

Clear results that allow Bordeaux to climb onto the podium, in 4th place, with an average of 3.98, just behind Paris (5.75), Lyon (4.46) and Strasbourg (4.08). It must be said that the city's policy in favor of soft mobility continues to gain ground. This is evidenced by the development of the ReVE network of Bordeaux Métropole, which aims for 272 km of new cycling lanes and the creation of 14 new routes by 2030.
